Jerry Barrack Nature Prints for Sale

CELERY FARM COVER Presence Nature (1)
To raise money for two worthy charities, ace nature photographer Jerry Barrack is donating a few dozen awesome nature photos (some mounted) to raise money for The Raptor Trust and Animal Friends of Franklin Lakes.

The prints include some photos from our Celery Farm book and the new Screech Owl Companion.

I will sell them at my book talks for the Oakland Public Library tonight and (I hope) the Hasbrouck Heights Free Public Library and the Hasbrouck Heights Garden Club on Wednesday night.

Thank you, Jerry!

Here's to Some Amazing Celery Farm Volunteers

IMG_0870 (1)
The Celery Farm has an incredible new volunteer crew that has laid siege to the nature preserve's invasive plants.

I was fortunate to see them as they exited the preserve after attacking the ubiquitous autumn olives, and  I rushed to take the snapshot above as they reached the kiosk. (Apologies for the poor photo.)

Neil MacLennan, their unofficial ringleader, provided their  names. They are, from left to right: Christian Alcaide, Amy & Tom Bevacqua, Neil, Jeff Dugan and Lee Stoeski.

Neil notes:  "We have a group of seven great energetic volunteers at present, and we have put in 107 hours in the past month with work at Phair’s Pond, Fred’s meadow, and the eastside trail along Allendale Brook.

"Our concentration has been mostly focused on removing Autumn Olives with a current count of over 600 shrubs.Frank Alcaide ( Christian’s father) was not present for the photo but he has been an outstanding contributor to the progress we have made."

Bravo! Thank you on behalf of everyone who loves the Celery Farm.

Want to help? You can sign up to volunteer on the Fyke website (https://www.fykenature.org/volunteeropps.php)  or use the QR code at the kiosk.

Screech Owl Cover
I will give a free talk about The Screech Owl Companion, my brand-new book from Timber Press, on Thursday, Nov. 2, at Lee Memorial Library at 7 p.m.

The talk is sponsored by the library and the Fyke Nature Association, the volunteer group that takes care of the Celery Farm.

I think the photos alone are worth the price of this entertaining compendium, but see for yourself. I'll be happy to sign and inscribe copies of The Screech Owl Companion after my talk.
