Raptor Trust Day Is Sunday!

Feather Mystery Answered

On Monday I asked:

I found this assortment of feathers last week under a raptor nest. How many can you identify? Any idea what the raptor is?

Diane Louie replied:

Blue Jay, Mourning Dove and Northern Flicker (Yellow-shafted) prey of a Screech Owl

I agree on the feathers, but since the nest was "open air" (which I did not disclose) and not a nestbox, I am thinking it was a hawk or a falcon nest. There are a few still-unidentifed feathers, particularly the one in the lower right.

(Thanks, Diane!)
