Feb. 1 is Junco Day!

I don't know about you, but I'm a little weary of Groundhog Day this Tuesday.

In its place, I propose Junco Day, on Feb.1.

If the first Junco I see by my feeder tomorrow sees its shadow, it means we'll have six more weeks of juncos.

We'll call that junco "Allendale Earl." Take that, Punxatawney Phil!

Wood Duck Box Clean-out

A bunch of us volunteers went onto Lake Appert earlier this week and cleaned out the Wood Duck boxes and rebuilt the stockpile so birds and turtles have a place to perch beyond the Warden's Watch.

A big thank you to ( left to right, above) Patty Finn, Deputy Warden Gabriele Schmitt, and Liam Conroy.

Help Stiles & Sis Celebrate

January 26, 2021

Stiles and Lillian Thomas, who were the backbone of the Celery Farm for decades, celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary on March 16.

I thought you might want to join all the cool kids and wish them a Happy Valentine's Day and get ahead of the curve.

They have been going together for 80 years, for a combined total of 160 years. Although I'm not sure you can combine that...

Please send a card, but don't spill the beans.... Want the cards to be a surprise...

Saw this barrel on a Celery Farm walk before the snow. Seems old, thick, and empty.

Anyone know what this sort of barrel it is, and how old it might be?

Directions to The Fell House
Look for white house with pillars, white barn, on west side of Franklin Turnpike, just north of Cottage Place.
Directions to Green Way entrance to the Celery Farm
Green Way is off the Franklin Turnpike, the second right heading north after the Celery Farm parking lot on the Franklin Turnpike. Parking is in the cul de sac. This is a residential street, so please drive and park considerately. Please do not block the large gates leading into the Celery Farm, and please park parallel to the curb.
Directions To Celery Farm Main Parking Lot
Parking lot is on your right, north of Cottage Place, past three houses. Please do not park on the sidewalk -- it is illegal, by state law. You could damage the sidewalk, make it dangerous for pedestrians, and receive a ticket. (Pass the word if you see anyone parking on thes sidewalk.)
