Lots of American Robins were dining on these berries last week along the Celery Farm border along Boroline Road.

Two Pileateds were hanging out nearby.

Got there in time to take a few pix from afar. Did not want to trespass to get a closer shot, so these are quite cropped...

The bird was at Altin Ave. and East Crescent and stuck around for at least 20 minutes, sunning itself no doubt.

The annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count -- invented by Frank Chapman of Teaneck back in 1900 -- will be held between Monday, Dec. 14, to Tuesday, Jan. 5. 

The COVID-19 pandemic may affect participation. Many counts will be done under special guidelines, while others may get canceled.

    As I write this, I’m preparing a delicious Thanksgiving buffet for my backyard guests.  If I’m lucky, the visitors dining at my feeders will include not only the usual suspects but a surprise or two as wel l.

     By the usual suspects, I mean recent arrivals like juncos and white-throated sparrows as well as the year-’rounders -- cardinals, tufted titmice, chickadees, blue jays, white-breasted nuthatches, mourning doves, Carolina wrens and the woodpecker crowd.
