Ten years ago, when I was working for the Meadowlands Commission, Bergen County Audubon Society president Don Torino and I decided it would great if the commission and BCAS collaborated on monthly bird walks and other events.

It was the start of the twice monthly walks -- including (as far as I know) the first scheduled walks of Harrier Meadow. It also led to Butterfly Day and Moth Night, and continues to this day.
