New Video about Hawk-Watching

Tom Nicastri did a cool new video about Hawk-watching,  featuring a lot of familiar faces -- including that Red-shouldered Hawk above.

He writes:

It is my hope this will be passed around electronically and the fun aspect will bring more participation in hawk watching and birding.

Digitally recorded on location  at Montclair, Raccoon Ridge, Mount Peter and State Line Lookout in New Jersey, and in Pennsylvania at Hawk Mountain in Pennsylvania.

New Improved Search Engine for This Blog

Screen Shot 2018-09-27 at 7.17.21 PM
I noticed a while back that it was easier to search the contents of this blog by doing the search on Google.

Now I've installed a better search engine -- Google -- on the blog itself, in the upper right-hand corner.

The illustration above  of the upper right-hand column on the blog shows another great feature, "Subscribe to this blog's feed."  You'll receive automatic notifications of new posts. Click it -- you'll like it.

CF Calendars for Sale on Sunday

Cover(1)
The fabulous 2019 Celery Farm Calendar is now available!

Not only filled with lovely photographs taken at the Celery Farm by members of Fyke Nature Association, the calendar contains a ton of information on the expected arrival of birds and other wildlife back at the Farm.

How else will you know when the Black-crowned Night Herons are due, so you can get out there and see and/or photograph them?

I'll be selling them this Sunday morning (9/30/18) from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the little parking lot on Franklin Turnpike.

It's a lovely calendar and an awesome way to show your support for our beloved Celery Farm. Only $15; cash or check only please.

I will have Stiles Thomas' carving of an Ivory-billed Woodpecker on display, along with the first-ever crocheted Wild Turducken by Carol Flanagan.

My Celery Farm children's books also will be available for $10 each (signed and inscribed), with the proceeds going to the Center for Food Action in Mahwah.

Stiles Thomas' New (Rare) Carving

Last night, Stiles Thomas unveiled his latest carving -- an Ivory-billed Woodpecker.

When I brought it outside to photograph it just now, a Blue Jay flew to a nearby tree and started shouting at it.

Pretty awesome.

(A big thank you to all who attended the unveiling and my talk for Fyke last night.)
