AB&G Chairs at Today's Barn Sale

Fans of the Allendale Bar and Grill maybe interested in hearing that the John Fell House barn sale is featuring six chairs from this classic local eatery.

Lots of other great stuff, too, including a framed Grandma Moses print and other prints, cool toys, crystal, picture frames, sporting goods and more.

Sale is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Please, no early birds. (And do not park on the sidewalk! It's against state law.)

Fell House Barn Sale Mystery

The Fell House is getting all kinds of cool donations for Saturday's barn sale, including the above pottery mystery item.

The container part holds about 16 ounces, with a hole on the bottom and built-in saucer with pourer.

Anybody know what it is and what it is used for?

Sale is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  (Sorry, no early birds of the non-feathered variety!)

Hawk Watch on Maine's Cadillac Mountain

On a quick trip to Maine's Mount Desert Island earlier this week, a friend and I drove to the top of Cadillac Mountain for a quick hike around the summit.

When we learned they had a hawk watch there, we had to stop by.

Alas, we arrived at 2:30 p.m., and the hawk watch is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Think of a birding brunch.

We did see a vulture, and that was it bird-wise, but the views were incredible and a Common Buckeye and a couple of other butterflies were enjoying the vista.

Next time I'll try to get there earlier.

More about the Cadillac Mountain Hawk Watch here.
