Golden oldie shot: Who, where, when?

My latest column for The Record is a tad offbeat, because it's about the world's most famous literary bird, which happens to live in Philadelphia. You can actually visit him there.

The lighting stunk but the birds were unmistakable -- a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers working the same tree this morning around 10 a.m. in the Celery Farm.

A few lucky people got to see the show.

The two were across the Allendale Brook from the Pirie Mayhood Tower and then worked their way down the brook.

I can't recall ever seeing a pair on the same tree in the Celery Farm.
