Birdy 30 Results Are Here!

1-IMG_0563
The Superstorm Stella Birdy 30 results are in, and I am pleased to announce the winners. Boy, was it close.

In all, at least 18 people submitted one or more lists. (Thanks, all!)

The Blue-footed Booby Prize goes to Tom Nicastri, because 1-IMG_2669I needed an excuse to use the Galapagos photo at right again. Tom had a grand total of two birds.

Because Tom's birds were turkey and chicken, we are thinking Tom was looking into his fridge instead of out his window, falling just one entree short of  the vaunted separate Turducken trifecta.

Bird of the Day honors went Rob Fanning, who apparently released the Red-breasted Nuthatch he had kept in his garage all winter  just in time for this prestigious event.

The other bird of the day was the Fox Sparrow, which appeared on many lists because of a current influx. (Very cool.)

I am posting another pic of the American Woodcock I saw during the Birdy 30, above, because I needed an excuse. He has not returned. The music video the woodcock dancing is here.

Le Prize Grande goes to David Kaplan, with an impressive list of 19 birds.

Close behind were other perennial all-stars Stiles Thomas (18), Ravi Potluri (18) and Betty McDonnell (17).

Congrats, all!  If I overlooked or messed up anybody's high score, holler.

Dave's winning list follows, along with Stephanie Seymour's photo of a Fox Sparrow, Tree Sparrow and a Dark-eyed Junco that photo-bombed the picture.
