Seymour Drakes and I are taking a break. Please stay tuned. We shall return toward the end of the month..
Answer to the recent Monday Morning Mystery will be posted next week, theoretically.
More on pishing here.
My latest column for The Record is all about the Laurelwood Arboretum in the Pines Lake section of Wayne.
I discovered it when I did a talk there for Earth Day last spring. A great place to chill and enjoy nature.
The photo above, of a young Green Heron at Laurelwood, was taken by Mark Hirsch earlier this summer. (Thanks, Mark!)
I loved the cool signs for fledgling birders (below).
Mike Flom passed along this recent photo of a Black-crowned Night Heron and a Green Heron. (Thanks, Mike!)
Mile-a-Minute Weed is a nasty invasive that has made its way into the Celery Farm.
The Record's Jim O'Neill reports that there's reason for hope in the fight against this noxious weed.
