A partial walk-around of the Celery Farm yielded a pair of Monarchs mating on Milkweed in what I like to call Fred's Field (by the Green Way entrance, in honor of Fred Weber, who did so much work there), plus two young Minks by No-Name Culvert and a female Common Yellow-throat along Parnell's Path.
I did one final post today, about the banding of two at-risk American Kestrels there yesterday. The link is here.
I will be working on an eBook about Duke Farms' Bald Eagles later this summer.
It perched, called (a begging call?), flew around a bit, and repeated the process.
It did not seem to mind our temporary presence.
More on ravens and crows here.
Save the date -- Sunday, Sept. 27, at 9 a.m. -- for the new Pirie - Mayhood Tower dedication.
Mike Limatola, Stiles Thomas and I talked it over and realized that the plaque at the new Pirie - Mayhood Tower should honor both folks that the tower is named for, and have a dedication where both families can attend.
We hope you can attend, too. It’s right after the Hour on the Tower. Above are the before and after photos of the tower.
