"Ghosts' Talk in Allendale Tonite

Ghosts Covers_Final-2Join me at 7 tonight, Oct. 29, at the Lee Memorial Library as I read my two popular local haunted tales for Halloween Week.

“Ghosts of Allendale” takes place during the Revolutionary War and features the Celery Farm and Allendale’s own founding father, John Fell.

“Phantoms of the Ramapos” is based on true events that occurred in Allendale and Ho-Ho-Kus 75 years ago.

Both ghost tales were inspired by local history and heavily researched, and both stories will be accompanied by slide shows.

"The Ghosts of Allendale" tale is illustrated with the book’s original artwork by Northern Highlands students.

"Phantoms of the Ramapos" is  P1210820AJ-003illustrated with archival photos of the Ho-Ho-Ku Speedway, old downtown Allendale, and the Darlington Schoolhouse.

The event is free and open to the public. Signed copies of “Ghosts of Allendale” will be available for sale, with all proceeds going to the Fell House. “Phantoms of the Ramapos” is available as a free iTunes download.

We'll be serving cider and ginger snaps. Seating is first-come, first-served. The library is at 500 W. Crescent Ave.

If you can't make tonight's show, I'll also be speaking at the Mahwah Public Library at 7 tomorrow night, Halloween Eve, at the Mahwah Public Library.  I'll post full details tomorrow a.m.

Ridgefield Park Eagle Update

IMG_9922Jim O'Neill has the most comprehensive article I have seen yet about the Ridgefield Park nesting Bald Eagles and a developer's attempt to both accommodate the eagles and develop the site.

I stopped by the site yesterday and did not see any eagles, bt they are still being seen regularly there.

The link is here.
