Help the Fell House @AB&G on Monday

A fun, low-keyed fund-raiser fFell house aor Allendale's Fell House, that stately white mansion just down the street from the Celery Farm parking lot on Franklin Turnpike, is scheduled for the Allendale Bar and Grill next Monday (June 17) from 5 p.m. to closing.

Buy dinner, a snack, a beer, a glass of wine, and part of the proceeds will go to the Concerned Citizens of Allendale, the non-profit grassroots group that saved the house from the wrecking ball.

The Fell House is again hosting the Fyke Nature Association's Moth Night -- dubbed the Moth Ball this year --on July 31.

Find out more about why the house is so valuable historically and environmentally. Or just relax and savor the beginning of summer. I hope to see you there.

A Nifty Place Nearby

Don Torino's latest column for wildnewjersey.tv is about the Hackensack River Greenway through Teaneck. I had written about it in a previous life for The Record, and Don describes it nicely -- "a 3.5 mile natural retreat that meanders along the Hackensack River through a solidly populated part of Bergen County."

You can read it here.

The Greenway's website is here.

The butterfly above is a Little Wood Satyr, seen on one of our Satyrday Celery Farm walks.

Congrats to Deedee Burnsidefor correctly IDing the butterfly, and to Alice Leurck for providing the photo.
