Stepping Up For Lorrimer!

Today, a  team of ace birders is walking the Celery Farm to see how many total species they can see in an effort to raise money for the wonderful educational programs at the Lrrimer Sanctuary.

You can help by making a lump-sum donation or by pledging an amount for every species seen. If, for example, you pledged 25 cents a bird and the team saw 60 species, you'd be donating $15. (I sure hope my math is right!)

Last minute e-mail pledges can be made to John Brotherton at [email protected].

Thanks to all who have made and will make pledges for today's event!

My Latest Column: Pete Dunne!

Pete Dunne(1)-002
Just in time for the World Series of Birding, my latest column for The Record features an interview with the legendary Pete Dunne -- who invented the event 30 years ago.

Pete is recovering from a stroke suffered less than two months ago. He was nice enough to talk to me about his stroke, his recovery, the World Series of Birding, Garret Mountain in the spring, and more.

The link is here.

Below, a photo of Pete with Roger Tory Peterson in 1984, during the first World Series of Birding.
