I have gotten a couple of e-mails from folks who say they stopped seeing their backyard hummingbirds in early July or have not seen any.
One birder writes: "Where are all the hummingbirds? This is the first year in many that I have yet to see even one hummingbird. My feeders have been out and changed regularly. I miss the show. Do you have any idea what's up??"
I just saw a hummingbird zipping around our cardinal flowers the other day, but I have not put up hummingbird feeders this year so I do not have a good grasp of the situation.
Has anyone noticed any changes in hummingbird populations and, if so, why?
This morning's walk had everything -- a great group of folks, great weather and great looks at plenty of butterflies.
We also had the Dickcissel early and late -- plus a Hummingbird Clear-winged Moth.
Did we mention a very friendly Red Admiral?
And lots and lots if beaufiful dragonflies?
Full list and more photos follow (unless I forgot any).
Another Dickcissel shot and bird list later this weekend.

To add to the fun at this morning's Celery Farm Butterfly Walk, we will also keep an eye out for a rare Dickcissel, which has been seen as recently as late Friday afternoon near the Green Way entrance where we'll meet.
This Dickcissel photo was taken Thursday at the CF By Chris Takacs (thanks, Chris!)
More on Dickcissels here.
More info on the Butterfly Walk follows.
