Tomorrow is the first-ever Moth Night at the Fell House in Allendale.
The Fyke Nature Association and the Concerned Citizens of Allendale (who saved the historic Fell House) are sponsoring the event, due to kick off at 8:30 p.m.
The free event is being held in conjunction with National Moth Week.
The Sphinx Moth above was photographed the other night at the Fell House. More on National Moth Week is here.
The event will include a short talk about moths and why most of them are our friends, followed by a chance to look at and photograph any moths attracted our lights. Details to follow.
We are limiting the event to first 24 folks who register. E-mail Jim Wright at celeryfarm (at) gmail.com to reserve a spot or get more info.
David Moskowitz, a co-founder of National Moth Week, has posted lots of helpful background information about this amazing global event -- and a link to Moth Night sites across New Jersey -- on the wildnewjersey.tv blog. Link is here.
