I am pleased to announce that "Survival: The Red-shouldered Hawks of Allendale" is now available as a iBook download for iPads, iPod Touches and iPhones (I have to say that it's pretty cool on an iPad).

The download is free. Playing a major supporting role is The Raptor Trust, an amazing hawk rehabilitation center that saved the life of a Red-shouldered Hawk named  Laura -- the main protagonist of the book.

The paper-version of the book is beautiful but expensive. The iPad version will (I hope) put "Survival" in the hands of far more bird-lovers for less than cost of postage for the book.

As Carole Dickman wrote, this is by the Green Way entrance to the CF -- the wild flower garden that Fred Weber and his crew rehabbed last year.

The other scene is heading south from the Butterfy Garden toward No-Nmae Culvert.

After the first January snowfall, my wife and I walked around the Celery Farm, photographing locales -- some easily identified, some difficult.

They form a new series of Monday Morning Mysteries.  Diehard Celery Farmers should get most of these, but some ain't easy.

This guy was perched in my backyard on Sunday morning, waiting for a meal to show up at the feeders.

Saw this Red-shoulder perched across the street from the CF Parking Lot, high up in this conifer. I am guessing it is Laura, but could not see any bands.
