Celery Farm Guided Walk is Saturday!

Our last Celery Farm guided walk of the year is at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at 8 a.m.  We meet at the Green Way entrance. Wear bug spray just in case, and socks because of the Poison Ivy.

The walk will last approx. 90 minutes. We hope to get a variety of ducks and other cool birds. Rain cancels.  Hope to see you there!

The Ridgewood School Swift Certificate!

P1020143
Fyke Nature Association and Bergen County Audubon Society joined forces to commend the George Washington Middle School in Ridgewood for its efforts to protect the thousands of Chimney Swifts that roost in the school's chimney every August and September.

Fyke's John Workman supplied the words and Paula Dias (pictured with the certificate at last night's Fyke meeting) provided the illustration. (Superb work by both, with a much-appreciated assist from Kurt Muenz and all the others who helped make this possible. It's a beautiful job.)

The certificate of recognition and appreciation  will be presented by the presidents of Fyke (Mike Limatola) and BCAS (Beth Goldberg) at the regular meeting of the Ridgewood Board of Ed. on Mon. Sept. 26.

The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m., and you can watch on-line. Just go to:

http://www.ridgewood.k12.nj.us/

Then click on "Live BOE Meeting" (left side immediately on top of the
calendar page).

Kurt notes: "You'll need the Quicktime Player to watch. If it's not on your computer, you'll be prompted to download and install Quicktime. It's free and didn't take long when I did it."

Must-see TV.
