This morning's highlight was my first of year OSPREY--cruising over the path headed toward the woods/Green Way as I was walking toward Pirie. A wonderful treat on this first day of spring--and my 100th species in Bergen county this year.

Had over 1,000 Canada Geese flyover the CF this morning--mostly in flocks from about 30 to about 80 birds. One flock contained what were very likey 2 Cackling Geese (they were dwarfed by the other Geese--appeared about half the size)

A gang of 6 Great Blue Herons flew north with purpose, a flotilla of 17 Green-winged Teal were on the lake, and a singing RUSTY BLACKBIRD was a nice treat at Phair's Pond.

A nice surprise during a quick lunchtime stop were 3 RUDDY DUCKS.

Rob reports:

A PIED-BILLED GREBE was at the Celery Farm Monday morning. This is my earliest record for the CF (previously 3/20) Also present was a COOT--first found by Fred Weber.
  Other birds incl. GW Teal, Hooded Mergs, 3 adult Great Black-backed Gulls, and a Sharpie. (Thanks, Rob!)
