The photo is a Red-tail holding its prey -- an accipiter. The question is, is it a Sharpie or a Coop, or something else entirely? (Thanks to Bob Gordon for the great shot!)

Please note that Friday's Fyke Nature Association will be held at Allendale Borough Hall, 500 W. Crescent Avenue until further notice due to Wyckoff Library renovations. The Borough Hall is where Fyke has its annual Christams Bird Count wrap-up.

Friday's talk, on poet Mary Oliver's exquite nature poetry featuring birds, promises to be excellent. Oliver's poems are outstanding, and the presenter, ace birder and Mount Peter mainstay Judy Cinquina, is top-notch as well.

This pigeon was photographed leaving the baggage claim area at Newark Airport's Terminal C earlier this month. We thought it was kind of obvious that it was a passenger pigeon, but maybe not.

Seymour Drakes informs me that the judges are also accepting "Rock Pigeon," and that Tom Burr was a solid No. 2 for his moving efforts on behalf of "Stool Pigeon."

Next Monday there will be a real mystery, not to be missed. Really.

A tree fell and blocked the path on the east side of the farm this weekend.

I saw this bird earlier this month at Newark Airport at Terminal C leaving the baggage claim after a short flight.

What kind of bird is it? Please be specific.
