Monday Morning Mystery Revealed
My 'Bird Watcher' Column This Week

The Rob Fanning Report 042810

Decided to brave the cold and wind this morning. It is, after all, April 28th! Amazing how each year is so different. Last year I had Blackpoll Warblers at CF on the 27th--this year still waiting for my first of year N. Waterthrush, Warbling Vireo, Baltimore Oriole, Green Heron, etc.
Highlight of the day was a flock of 5 GREAT EGRETS. This may be my highest spring count for CF. Also present were 4 GREAT BLUE HERONS, a SPOTTED SANDPIPER, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, and a few CEDAR WAXWINGS (which have been hanging around the Point for the last several days).
The good news is that May 1st and 80+ degrees are but a few days away. Bring on the migrants!
