FALL, FOWL

L1040373

Sally Teschon, a friend of this blog, took this shot from by the Warden's Watch two weekends at "Ducks at Dusk."
The leaves have mostly migrated to the ground, but the ducks still abound -- includng Gadwalls, Green-winged Teal, No. Shovelers, Wigeons, and the ever-reliable Mallard clan.

Plus a good old coot or two.

ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER

John Workman, a friend of this blog, reported seeing an Orange-crowned Warbler at the Celery Farm late yesterday afternoon.
John reports that  it was feeding in the field of mugwort and goldenrod close to the ditch next to Phairs Pond.
    More on Orange-crowned Warblers here.

'FELL HOUSE' SHOWDOWN

Fell house aIn less than a week -- on Tuesday November 11, at 7 p.m. -- the Allendale Planning Board will hold a special meeting to consider a plan to demolish the historic Fell House across the Franklin Turnpike from the Celery Farm.
In place of the stately home, the developer is trying to build 11 townhomes on less than three acres --and send all the run-off into the Celery Farm.
The 107-acre natural area floods already, as you can see from a recently posted video on my wife's blog.
Click here to see the blog and the video, and please attend the planning board meeting if you possibly can.

This meeting is for all the marbles.
