MOUNT PETER: Update

 Ace hawk-watcher Judy Cinquina reports:

Mount Peter had another good day yesterday, Thursday Sept. 18. I don't  yet have the official report, but Broadwing numbers were approaching  1,000 when I left the mountain. We had our first Golden Eagle yesterday, an immature, and a couple of Bald Eagles.

Fyke member, Denise Farrell is the official counter on Mount Peter tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 20, and she's looking for some support from Fyke members to spot incoming hawks.

The best parking is across from the Creamery. The short dirt road up to the lookout lot is badly pot-holed.

The lookout is located on the top of 17A, between Greenwood Lake and Warwick, N.Y., and is marked by a pair of microwave towers.
To reach the lookout, take Route 17 North through Tuxedo to 17A and turn left. Follow 17A past Sterling Forest, up the mountain and into Greenwood Lake
.

Keep right when you reach the lake and follow 17A up the second mountain.
When you reach the top, you will see a sign for homemade ice cream ahead. Turn right at the ice cream shop onto
Kain Road and turn right again up the pot-holed dirt road to the lot or park down below.
