Fyke's annual Celery Farm Butterfly Walk this Saturday morning (July 15) at 10:30 is held in memory of Tom Burr, the late Fyke member, naturalist, photographer, and friend. We'll also look for dragonflies and daytime moths.
Butterflies are free, like the old movie says, but moths might cost you a quarter.
The walk itself is free and open to all.
Meet at the end of Green Way at 10:30 a.m. for a 60-minute stroll. Dress for bright sun and bugs. Bring water and sunscreen. I'll bring some butterfly I.D. brochures and good luck.
I've stopped by fields at Green Way the past two days and seen an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (above), Silver-spotted Skipper (below), Red Admiral, Summer Azure and various other skippers, thanks to all the Monarda (Bee Balm) and Common Milkweed that Deputy Warden Fred Weber planted a couple of years back. (Thanks, Fred!)
Rain cancels. Please let me know if you are attending or have questions. celeryfarm(at)gmail.com.
