The Rob Fanning Report: 083109

The cold-front brought in some migrants today. I saw 6 warblers, incl. nice looks at an Ovenbird. Fred saw Blue-winged and BT Green to make 8 total.

I also saw a probable Parula but looks were too brief.

Fred also saw an very early RC Kinglet--the first August record for the CF!

Monday Morning Mystery 083109

IMG_0526

This could be my favorite Monday Morning Mystery of All-time!

What is this, and what is the nylon rope for?

Clue: It's the handiwork of Marsh Warden Stiles Thomas.

Answer appears tomorrow -- sort of.

Fell House Fund-Raiser

IMG_5642 To help raise awareness and more money to save Allendale's Fell House, that stately white mansion just down the street from the Celery Farm parking lot on Franklin turnpike, the Concerned Citizens of Allendale is having a fund-raiser at the Allendale Bar and Grill on Monday [Aug. 31] from 5 p.m. to closing.

Buy dinner, a snack, a beer,a glass of wine, and part of the proceeds will go to the Concerned Citizens of Allendale, a non-profit grassroots group.

Find out more about why the house is so valuable historically and why the property is so valuable environmentally.

Learn more about the amazing John Fell, Allendale's Revolutionary War hero.

Or just relax and chat about nature, the new month and whatever else you'd like.

Seymour Drakes will be making a guest appearance.

   Thanks, AB&G!
